This Week’s Binge 11.20.20

Scheduling is very weird right now.  This is Us came back for 4 episodes and is on hiatus until January 5th, meanwhile I’m watching 3 franchises of The Real Housewives at one time.  I’m currently wrapping up my last week of watching Fall movies before I allow myself to switch to holiday (which I don’t allow to happen until the day after Thanksgiving).

Watch | Series

The Mandalorian | Season 2

Disney+

The Mandalorian is back for season 2, along with the sleeper hit, Baby Yoda.

Set in the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian is a type of bounty hunter that is bound by a code.  Apparently in the Star Wars films there was once a Mandalorian mentioned somewhere, but I had no idea.  I did however know about full-blown adult Yoda, a sort of empath truth-teller, famous for his unusual way of speaking, he does (if you know, you know).

I’m not a fanatic of Star Wars, I have trouble keeping all the films straight and figuring where and in what timeline each exists, but when I watch them I am entertained.  I would say the same is true for The Mandalorian.  What’s great about the series is although there is an overarching plot, each episode starts and wraps up its own journey.  And Baby Yoda, I mean The Child, continues to be the star.

The Crown | Season 4

Netflix

The Crown never disappoints.  The series, based on the true stories of the current British Monarchy, is at the point in the timeline where we meet (spoiler) Princess Diana.

As someone who isn’t obsessed with the royal family, I am obsessed with The Crown.  The way the series is written, each episode covers an important milestone either in history or in the family.  But because the family is the head of England history and family milestones often intersect.

I’ve learned so much about European history that I wasn’t aware of.  The beginning of the series, when Queen Elizabeth is a young girl, seems so long ago.  Season 4 really puts it into perspective where it now is covering history that happened in my lifetime.

If teasing Princess Diana intrigues you, I highly recommend you go back and start from season 1.  You will not be disappointed.
