This Week’s Binge 5.15.20
This week I found myself reading a bit more because I had a book club pick to start AND finish and non-fiction always takes me a little longer to read. However, that didn’t stop me from bingeing an entire Netflix series and starting a new one. Below is everything I watched, read and listened to for the week.
Watch
Dead to Me | Season 2
Netflix
I binged this entire season in one day, v impressive. To be fair each episode is only 30 minutes and they generally end on a cliffhanger so not a large feat. I loved Season 1 when it came out; Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini play perfectly off each other in this show about two imperfect friends.

Hollywood
Netflix
I haven’t finished this series yet because reading the two books got in the way, but this new Ryan Murphy series is soooooo good! I kind of like that I haven’t watched the entire thing yet because now I’ve got something to look forward to. A second season hasn’t been announced and if this truly is a limited series I will be so sad. The show is a historical fiction set in 1940’s Hollywood and brings to light what was really happening with the minority and underserved communities. Diversity was not something they were striving for, to say the least.

Read
Everything is Figureoutable
Marie Forleo
I’m in two book clubs. One is fiction and fun and we vote on the books, always accompanied by wine. The other club is non-fiction and empowering and a book is chosen for us, usually accompanied by tea or sparkling water. I love both clubs for very different reasons, but one reason for the non-fiction club is that the chosen book is generally one I wouldn’t pick up myself. I’m almost embarrassed to say I didn’t know Marie Forleo before reading the book. I had heard her name in the stratosphere but didn’t know much about her, not her story, not her podcasts, not her TV series. I really like this book, more than I expected to. It’s not groundbreaking but I like her perspective and delivery, what she had to say stuck with me. It’s highly quotable and I have many passages highlighted in my Kindle. And I am a firm believer that Everything IS Figureoutable.

Listen
Be There in Five
Kate Kennedy
This week I went down a rabbit hole of Kate Kennedy’s podcast. I had heard about Be There in Five a few months ago but never listened and I think it was Bad on Paper that finally led me there (which if you haven’t listened to Bad on Paper I highly recommend). I can see Kate not being for everyone but I love her spoken stream of consciousness style. She has a wealth of pop culture knowledge which I love and feel like we would make the best bar trivia team.
