‘The Queen’s Gambit’ Netflix Series Review
The Queen’s Gambit
Netflix
I remember watching the trailer for The Queen’s Gambit, thinking it was interesting and putting it on my list. When the time came and it was released I had no recollection of what it was about. I assumed it was a period piece, and I like those so I tried it.
I binged the whole thing in 2 days. It’s not a period piece, (well, I guess it starts in the ’60s but I don’t consider that ‘period’) but it is amazing.
The Queen’s Gambit is a move in chess, and although a series based around chess doesn’t sound entertaining, it is. Beth Harmon is a bad-ass who paved her own way while overcoming numerous obstacles and complications along the way.
Each episode feels like a different chapter in Beth’s life and I couldn’t wait to see what the next one would bring. The only thing wrong with The Queen’s Gambit is that it’s a limited series, so unfortunately I don’t foresee a season 2 in our future.
I am: Obsessed
