This Week’s Binge 12.11.20
Fully embracing the holiday season. Aside from what I binged below, watched some all-time Christmas favorites.
Watch | Series
Dash & Lily
Netflix
‘Dash & Lily’ is a new genre we didn’t know we needed, holiday rom-com series. And I am here for it!
Dash & Lily (the names of the two main characters) meet via a notebook, start a conversation and continue to build a relationship before ever meeting each other. It’s a cross between You’ve Got Mail and Serendipity. The best part of the series is that it takes you on a full-blown Christmas tour of New York, which simultaneously makes me happy but also sad because I miss it (Two Boots has a starring role, I was always partial to the Cleopatra Jones).
What I didn’t realize going into it is that Dash & Lily are high schoolers, and why would I? Similar to Gossip Girl, these high schoolers are played by actors in their 20’s and are far cooler than any high schooler I ever knew.

Happiest Season
Netflix
‘Happiest Season’ just might go into my seasonal rotation. An all-star cast, updated spin on a familiar plot, and my particular favorite…family dysfunction.
When Mackenzie Davis’s character takes her girlfriend, played by Kristin Stewart, home for the holidays, she neglects to tell her she isn’t out of the closet yet. Meeting the family for the first time is hard enough, what could go wrong?

Read
The Invisible Bridge
Julie Orringer
Julie Orringer found a way to make a very heavy story set in very heavy time engaging in ‘The Invisible Bridge’. At almost 800 pages it’s an epic novel, but it’s worth every page.
The late 30’s and early 40’s in Europe was a rapidly changing and dangerous environment, especially for the Jewish community. Written in 5 distinct parts, each one takes you on a different journey from artistic Paris to war-struck Budapest.
While it’s difficult to read about the unimaginable atrocities that happened a short 75 years ago, we must continue so that we do not allow history to repeat itself. It’s important to keep these stories alive to honor those who lost the fight and those who survived to tell us about it.
‘The Invisible Bridge’ is based on a true story.
