This Week’s Binge 12.25.20

Merry Christmas!!!  While I watched some old favorites, like ‘Love Actually’ and ‘Scrooged’, with time off work there was room for some new shows too!  I also finished The Mandalorian season 2 this week.  While my overall review didn’t change, I’m consistently in awe of what Disney can manage to keep under wraps.

Tiny Pretty Things

I should have like ‘Tiny Pretty Things’, I really should have.  It has all the makings of a great series…set in Chicago, a mystery, complicated relationships, and choreography too!  I was imagining ‘Center Stage‘ meets ‘Black Swan‘.

The set is an elite dance school in Chicago and the students, as messed up as they are, are vying for the lead roles, and that’s on top of a mysterious tragedy that befell a key dancer. 

But alas, I had to turn it off after three episodes (that’s kind of my litmus test).  The acting was soooo bad.  I found myself talking myself into trying to watch it after there would be a scene or two that were OK, but that’s not what entertainment should be about.  Pass.

The Wilds

When a plane of high school girls crashes on a deserted island, it’s apparent from the first episode not everything is as simple as it appears to be.

I was a big fan of ‘Lost‘ so it’s no surprise I am obsessed with the Wilds.  It’s similar where there is an overarching story, which is very intriguing, but then each girl has her own backstory that we learn about as well.

Already renewed for a second season, ‘The Wilds’ is very good!
