Hacks
HBO Max
A new weekly dark comedy by HBO Max, Hacks was released last week with two episodes out of the gate.
The iconic Jean Smart plays an iconic comedian with a residency in Vegas who gets a little help from an L.A. write when both of their careers seem lagging a bit.
While it’s still pretty early in the season, I’m liking the premise, the casting is fantastic, and there were a few dark jokes I found quite funny. I’m interested to see where this goes, but it definitely has potential.

The Woman in the Window
Netflix
At first glance, The Woman in the Window seemed reminiscent of Hitchcock’s Rear Window (an all-time classic thriller).
I had high hopes with an all-star cast and Amy Adams playing the main character, whose agoraphobia (I still laugh that I learned about that from ‘What about Bob’) confines her to her NYC brownstone.
The good news is that it’s not exactly Rear Window so you won’t know exactly where it’s going. The bad news is, it doesn’t get really good until the very end. Can’t win them all, but a good rainy weekend (or if you are ready, airplane) movie.

Bad on Paper Podcast
Grace Atwood & Becca Freeman
As I was listening to the Bad on Paper Podcast this week I realized I have never formally reviewed it on Very Obsessed, and that’s because I’ve been listening to it for years, and there aren’t exactly seasons to review at a time. However, I really want to share it with you because it’s one of the few podcasts I listen to the day it comes out. I look forward to it every week.
Grace Atwood & Becca Freeman are 30 somethings who host a weekly podcast, sometimes they have guests, sometimes they don’t, and one week a month they have a book club episode (hence the name of the podcast).
What I love about this weekly show is that they are just two normal, down to earth friends talking and sharing for the most part, which is also what I love (hence Very Obsessed)! Listening to them you feel like you could friends and they give great recommendations. As a fellow entertainment nerd (hence This Week’s Binge) I appreciate getting some suggestions on books too.
Give them a listen, I’m sure you’ll love them too. They are honest and transparent, but in the most nice and likable way.
P.S. I do believe this is the most ‘hence’s’ in any review.
