This Week’s Binge 5.29.20
This week I basically binged Netflix. I don’t typically have the time or attention span to watch two movies but with the long holiday weekend, I found myself enjoying comedies to my heart’s content.
Watch
Sweet Magnolias
Netflix
It kind of pains me to say I enjoyed this more than I should have. It probably has something to do with being stuck at home in the middle of a global pandemic and this being the feel-good, light-hearted show I needed.
The series takes place in a town outside of Charlotte called Serendipity (of course) and is like a mix between Hart of Dixie and Gilmore Girls, only without the Amy Sherman-Palladino witty banter. Nevertheless, it does have me longing for a weekly margarita night with friends.

The Wrong Missy
Netflix
I have not seen a movie like The Wrong Missy in a really long time. It’s pure comic relief from start to finish, a 90’s outlandish comedy at it’s finest!
Imagine if you took Tommy Boy and replaced Chris Farley with Lauren Lapkus (in what is sure to be her breakout role). What you’d get is David Spade’s dry delivery bouncing off a ball full of energy, and that’s exactly what this is.

Lovebirds
Netflix
Ooh…a murder mystery and a comedy? (taps fingers diabolically) Seems like Netflix has found a formula they like. It’s reminiscent of Murder Mystery, but not quite as entertaining and without the gorgeous scenery. It’s lighthearted and has some great actors…but that’s about that.
