This Week’s Binge 8.21.20
Finished a book and a couple of series I had been working for a while. It’s a long list, but I’ll keep them brief.

(Un)Well
Netflix
(Un)Well is similar to The Goop Lab that streamed earlier this year on Netflix in that each episode examines a different controversial healthcare topic. Where it differs is that The Goop Lab was kind of using Goop employees as case studies, whereas (Un)Well takes a more comprehensive view.
What I like about (Un)Well is that it takes a look from not only a US perspective but many times a global. It also features people who believe in the healthcare practice as well as medical professionals who many times debunk.
It’s an interesting look at Western vs Eastern medicine and while I’m not totally sold, I can see if someone is in a chronic situation how they’d be willing to try anything.

Little Voice
Apple TV+
I’m annoyed with Little Voice because, more than anything, it had the potential to be really good. The story is centered around a 20-something musician in NYC trying to get her big break while navigating complexities with men, her friends, and her family.
It’s hard to pinpoint why it’s lackluster, but I think it comes down to the writing. With Sara Bareilles co-producing, the music is good, the casting is good, the plot has potential…so just disappointing that it didn’t come together.
