‘Firefly Lane’ Review
Firefly Lane
Netflix
I had all the intentions of reading the bestselling book Firefly Lane is based on before watching the show, but alas…I’ve been stuck on a non-fiction book for weeks now.
This is the story of 2 best friends who, at face value, couldn’t be more different. They have a lifelong friendship and it’s told from the view of 3 distinct timeframes of their lives, their teens, 20s, and 40’s (the 1970s, 1980s, early 2000s). I am a sucker for a good flashback story (Lost, The Wilds) and this story goes to the three different areas of their lives in each episode. I had a feeling it was going to be a soapy drama (Virgin River) but I was actually surprised by some deep topics and cliffhangers at the end of most episodes.
Seeing that a good portion of this happens in the 80s, be prepared for some awesome music and good throwback fashion. I’m v excited for season 2, although it hasn’t officially been announced yet.
I am: Obsessed
