‘On The Rocks’ Review
On The Rocks
Apple TV+
If I’m being honest, ‘On the Rocks’ teeters the line between Entertained and Annoyed. Bill Murray and Rashida Jones (two actors I really enjoy) play a father-daughter duo who, through a series of unlikely events, try to determine if Rashida’s husband is being faithful.
Marlon Wayans plays the husband, but unfortunately, he’s better off sticking to more traditional comedies. Also, and this is probably a controversial statement, but the writing’s not great. While I’m fully aware that Sophia Coppola is an Acadamy Award winner for Best Writing, this missed the mark for me. The dialogue seems forced.
The saving grace of ‘On The Rocks’ is that it is shot beautifully, the cinematography is stunning. And with New York City as the backdrop, what isn’t pleasant to the ears, is made up for with the eyes.
