Apple TV+

As a musical theater lover, I am very much obsessed with Schmigadoon! However, if you don’t love musicals I still say check out this comedy series on Apple TV+.

This Lorne Michaels series is completely unique with Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key getting lost and somehow stuck in a real-life musical.

Some of it’s a little cheesy, but with Cecily and Keegan-Michael being completely self-aware, they are in on the joke with us. And even though it’s a comedy, somehow they end every episode on a cliffhanger and I find myself wanting to binge the next one. Too bad they are releasing them weekly.

I am: Obsessed

I don’t know how I missed the series premiere of Truth Be Told in 2019, but when I saw the trailer for the second season I knew it was for me.

And I was right.

I binged the entire first season in one weekend and am now live with season two.

Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer is a true-crime podcast host. We, as the viewer, follow along as she creates the podcast season, see her personal story unfold, and watch as she tries to solve said true crime.

As someone who really started listening to podcasts with the arrival of Serial, it’s no wonder I’m hooked.

Remember the days when there was only cable, you’d DVR a show, and they would all be stored in that one little box (well the cloud, but what did we know then)? Those days are long gone and now we keep track of what we are watching on Netflix, or Hulu, or Apple TV+, or HBO Max, or…the list goes on and on. Since Apple TV+ is a newer streaming service, it doesn’t get all of the attention that some of the other services do, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have great original content. Sure, they don’t yet offer quite as many series, they are still building their portfolio, but there are some gems. So, if you are looking for (or need reminding of) the best shows to watch on Apple TV Plus, here’s the list. 5. Trying Trying is a lighthearted dark comedy (that seems like an oxymoron) about a couple struggling to get pregnant that explores adoption options. While not an entirely new topic, the breezy approach does seem fresh, and that it’s set in London doesn’t hurt either (I’m a sucker for a setting in a city that I love). Full Trying Review 4. Dickinson The first season of Dickinson came out in 2019 when I don’t think many people at all had Apple TV+, but when the second season came out in 2021 I binged the whole thing. Ted Lasso is so much better than it has any right to be. On paper, an American college football coach gets recruited to coach European Soccer (who take their version of football very seriously), the show sounds boring. Throw in Jason Sudekis as the lead character and you may have thoughts of Ted Lasso being an extended SNL skit. Oh no, you would be wrong. Ted Lasso strikes the perfect balance of humor and heartfelt while you can’t help but root for the character. I can’t give this a full review because I only just finished season 1, but it is good! Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry

After listening to the Comments by Celebs podcast episode in which they covered the Billie Eilish documentary, I had no intention of watching. But finding myself on a Friday night with nothing to watch decided to in the spirit of the Grammys on Sunday.

Wow, the hosts on the podcast did give an accurate portrayal but actually seeing Billie go from an unknown 13-year-old to a mega recording artist 17-year-old is wild. Big takeaways – a) I love her family b) there would be no Billie without Finneas (he’s a genius) and c) her work ethic is bananas.

If you are at all a fan, or even just like her music, do yourself a favor and watch.
