When NBC/Comcast sold their stake to The Walt Disney Company (by way of the 21st Century Fox acquisition) in 2017, Hulu really stepped up its game. That’s a lot of mumbo jumbo to say that while Hulu is no longer free (they do offer a free trial) what you get is totally worth the price. Their original content is where it’s at, and with the Live TV option, you can also get rid of cable (cable is very 2010). Below is the list of the Best Hulu Original Series to binge watch! Because Hulu has such great content, I included the Best Limited Series at the end as well. Happy binging! Returning Series Tell Me Lies Every friend I have told about Tell Me Lies ends up Obsessed! Returning Series

Tell Me Lies

Every friend I have told about Tell Me Lies ends up Obsessed! It’s the kind of bad TV that is so good!

The first episode starts with a group of friends in present day, but most of the series takes place in flashbacks to college where they met. Like many college kids, they don’t know how to handle relationships and they make a series of bad decisons. I can’t promise that you’ll like the characters, but you’ll definitely want to binge to see where it’s going.

Difficult People

Difficult People is an underrated gem! I found this series back in 2017 during my own free trial and it’s what made me subscribe to the streaming service, I needed to binge all the seasons!

Julie Klausner (full transparency did not know her before this) created this 30-minute comedy which she co-stars with Billy Eichner. It feels like they are playing an exaggerated version of themselves since the premise is two comedian friends living in NYC. It’s hysterical, and I want to be friends with them. The Great

The Handmaid’s Tale

The Handmaids Tale Hulu Series

The Handmaid’s Tale is what cemented Hulu into my must-have streaming library. This series, based on a novel published in 1985 by Margaret Atwood, tells the tale (re: nightmare) of the U.S. under a far-far-right dictatorship.

Elle Fanning is back as Catherine the Great in season 2 of The Great, one of the best series on TV right now.

The banter between her and her husband Peter, played by About a Boy’s Nicholas Hoult, is so clever and witty, if not a little raunchy.

I didn’t know that murder-mystery-comedies were missing in my life until Only Murders came around.

The premise is that three strangers live in the same building on the Upper West Side in NYC and decide to start a true-crime podcast when a true crime happens in the building.

Martin Short and Steve Martin are comedic treasures, I find myself literally laughing out loud. Selena Gomez is great in it and where I first thought it was a weird trio it really works across all demographics.

Oh, and the mystery is pretty captivating too! I’ve heard rumblings that there will be a season two, fingers crossed.

My obsession with the entire Real Housewives franchise is very real. And when we found out on Election Day 2020 that Erica Girardi (aka Erica Jayne) was filing for divorce from her much older, super wealthy husband of 20 years it shook the Bravo community.

And then…when we found out that said husband, Tom the lawyer, had been allegedly committing crimes the plot thickened. This exposes what all the allegations are. And they are not pretty. Actually, they are disgusting.

And for this to air while Erica’s franchise, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, is currently airing on Bravo is a genius move by Hulu. Very meta.

This is Us | Season 5

There’s not much I watch that is produced by network tv, but This is Us is the exception. It’s an excellent dramedy with realistic stories about racism, aging, and alcoholism wrapped in many different love stories.

As you know I love a good flashback, flash forward and there is no shortage of seeing the Pearson family throughout all of the years…and the future.

There wasn’t one episode in season 5 that I didn’t get teary-eyed or my jaw didn’t drop in shock. The surprise twists, the cliffhangers, I don’t know how they continue to do it. The bad news is, next season, season 6, has confirmed to be the last season. They have a lot of ‘splaining to do Lucy!

If you haven’t watched This is Us yet…first, I’m jealous of you. Second, start at the very beginning. You won’t regret it.

Am I a little embarrassed that I’m obsessed with a show about teenage girls in Texas and what may or may not be a revenge story? No! Because everyone deserves a guilty pleasure, and this is it.

I love a good flashback/flash forward story and this is not only a unique story but a unique way to tell it. The complex relationships that are highlighted based on miscommunication, wanting to blend in, trying to protect yourself…I mean, it’s so real.  Normal People is one of those few pieces of entertainment that really make you reflect on your own life, and maybe wish that you knew now what you knew then so you could know better and do better.  Of course none of use knew then what we know now, and I guess that’s why this series is appropriately named Normal People.  Now for the not so great part, appears that this is a one time, limited series so maybe try your best to not binge it all in one weekend, but good luck with that!  I didn’t read the book so not sure how closely the story aligns, but I do remember Bad On Paper Podcast mentioning that this was somehow better than the book.  I am: Obsessed

This has to be one of the most beautifully acted, written, and shot coming-of-age stories I’ve ever watched.  Initially, I was like Oh great, another story of a popular boy falling for an awkward girl.  Do not be deterred, it is SO much deeper than that.
