This Week’s Binge 6.12.20

I needed some laughter and comic relief this week so I spent a good amount of time watching The Office.

The American version of The Office is one of my all-time favorite shows.  The comedy which is centered around the people running a regional branch of a paper company doesn’t sound like a great premise to a show, but the casting, writing, and comedic timing are so good.  I also think when it aired originally it was one of the first shows I really watched to be filmed like a documentary, a successful style many shows have continued with today.

I have watched the entire season, from episode 1 to episode 201, multiple times.  And one of the great things about watching a series with so many episodes is that by the time I finish it I forget all the details when I start from episode 1 again.  You can definitely say I am: Obsessed

All in all, pretty light week for new entertainment, sometimes you just have to go with the classics.

Watch

The Good Fight Season 4

CBS All Access

I was a huge fan of The Good Wife and very skeptical when a spin off was announced and it wouldn’t include Julianna Margulies, of which I’ve been a fan since her ER days.

Both The Good Wife and The Good Fight take place in Chicago law firms.  Where The Good Wife focused on a political scandal and the politicians’ wife by his side, The Good Fight follows an attorney as she navigates her way in a new firm with complex environment in a Trump world.

Most of the cast is different but the not only does The Good Fight not disappoint, part of me wants to say it’s even better!  Season 3 was jump-the-shark adjacent, but season 4 came back with a vengeance.

With smart writing and a great cast, season 4 is more relevant than ever.

Pretty Things

Janelle Brown

On paper this book is a mystery or suspense, but it started a little slow so I didn’t have a great feeling from the start.

Although the chapters alternated between characters, the individual chapters were very long and that’s probably why it seemed slow.  With a premise of a girl stealing from the wealthy she finds on Instagram, it had the potential for a fun but exciting novel.  It didn’t really deliver.

As the book went on I did become more interested and it got better.  While I was entertained and I finished the book, it’s hard to be Obsessed if you don’t love any of the characters.

I am: Entertained
