An Honest Review of Equilibria CBD: My Hits & Misses

CBD has become very popular recently with people looking for help on a variety of health issues. After trying a gummy brand years ago for anxiety and not feeling anything I assumed CBD just didn’t work. I kept seeing ads for Equilibria and after a lot of research decided to give it a try and that was over a year ago.

Let me start by saying I am not a doctor. I’m not in the health field. In no way, shape, or form is this advice. I’m just sharing my experience and my honest Equilibria CBD review with you. Do with it what you will.

About Equilibria

There are many CBD brands to choose from, but what drew me to Equilibria is that they are a Chicago-based Women-owned business. After doing some research I learned that they co-own the Cannabis sativa plant farm that the Cannabidiol (CBD) comes from. It’s like a farm-to-table approach!

I’m not going to get into the science behind CBD since I’m no doctor but, Equilibria does a fantastic job of walking through the science of CBD, the endocannabinoid system, and what makes their formulation special.

My Equilibria CBD Routine

I started with the Balance+ Bundle which includes a 30 day supply of the 10mg mint daily drops and softgels. Initially, I took both of them as recommended (a softgel in the morning and the daily drops before bed) for a week and then met with the dosage consultant.

Later when Equilibria added gummies to the line I also bought those and take one on an as-needed basis.

Equilibria Dosage Consultants

The dosage consultants are one of the things that really convinced me to give Equilibria CBD a try. I love the personalization.

While I was taking CBD the first week I journaled what I took and how I felt. Then I scheduled a 1-on-1 consultation and we walked through my schedule, discussed how I was feeling, what I hoped CBD would help with, and then adjusted my dose.

Now I take daily drops in the morning (half a dropper, twice) and a softgel with food in the evening.

The consultants do a great job of explaining the science behind why they are adjusting the dosage. For instance, softgels absorb better with fat so when I was taking it first thing in the morning without breakfast my body wasn’t absorbing the full amount. Daily drops go under the tongue and aren’t fat-soluable so for my lifestyle it is better to start the morning with the drops.

Benefits of CBD

Again, I’m no doctor, but people claim CBD can help with anxiety, sleep, physical pain, inflammation, and autoimmune disorders. I do think there are benefits, and I haven’t personally seen any downside. According to the Mayo Clinic CBD is well tolerated but there can be some side effects, this post explains more.

Equilibria Daily Drops Review

As mentioned above, I take the mint daily drops every morning. They kick in about 10-30 minutes so I like taking it in the morning to help with any workday anxiety.

A 1 ml dose is 10mg and the oil is administered via a dropper. Holding 1 ml under my tongue for a full minute was challenging, but my dosage consultant mentioned this is common. She recommended doing 1/2 of the daily drops for a minute and then the other 1/2 for a second minute, which is what I do now.

Although available in unflavored, I’ve only tried the mint and while it doesn’t exactly taste bad, it doesn’t taste great either. There is an earthy flavor but the mint helps to mask it. I also don’t like matcha so if you do, then you may not mind it. However, it’s only 2 minutes and it’s totally fine. You definitely get used to the taste and now I don’t even think twice about it.

Not sure if it’s a placebo effect, but I feel pretty calm in the morning, regardless of what my jam-packed calendar may look like.

Equilibria Softgels Review

As noted, since softgels are fat-soluble it’s best to take them with food. I take a softgel the last time I eat, whether that is dinner or dessert. It kicks in 1-3 hours after taking, and one of the reasons I was most interested in CBD was to help with a racing mind trying to get to sleep and stay asleep.

The softgels are also 10mg but are slower released than the oil and the effects will last 6-8 hours. As someone who has always had a challenge taking pills, these are very easy to take and have zero flavor.

Although I don’t sleep through every single night, my mind feels much calmer while trying to get to sleep and there are some magical nights I can sleep all the way through.

Equilibria Gummies Review

The gummies fall somewhere between the oil and the softgel in regards to how long it takes to kick in and how long the effects last. The flavor is pineapple dragonfruit flavor and tastes like a THC gummy. Fruity, but with an earthy undernote.

I will take a gummy some afternoons if I’m feeling a little anxious but TBH, I don’t feel a benefit. Maybe it’s because I do take THC gummies and definitely feel something, but CBD gummies just aren’t for me. Once this jar is finished I won’t be purchasing again.

Other Equilibria Products

Equilibria has a lot of products that I haven’t tried first hand, but here is my hot take on each:

  • Extra Strength Daily Drops: More expensive than regular strength but I have no doubt they are worth it. I don’t think they could justify charging as much if they didn’t work. These are only available in unflavored.
  • Extra Strenght Softgels: Same thoughts as above. I try to take the least strong thing I can with it still working.
  • Topicals: I’ve heard amazing things about is the relief balm. I’ve heard it’s great for overall pain but especially period cramps. I’m unfortunately allegic to a botanical ingredient so I haven’t been able to try, but I definitely would.
  • Bath: Equilibria offers crystals and bath bombs. Baths are already so relaxing I’m not sure if I could tell if the CBD was really working.
  • Drink Drops: The newest limited edition product to the lineup, these drops can be added to water. I like the idea of having your CBD and getting your water too (like having your cake and eating it too)

Equilibria Subscription

If you’ve come this far in the post, chances are you are interested in trying Equilibria CBD. If you do, I highly recommend the subscription. It defaults to deliver every 30 days so you don’t have to worry about running out of the product, but if you need to change your delivery date (maybe you are on vacation), or skip a month (you’ve taken some time off) it is super easy to do on the website. You can cancel anytime and you get a discount on the product.

This kind of goes into the science of it all, but it takes some time to feel the full effects of CBD. It’s not going to be like melatonin where you take it and then you fall asleep. CBD has cumulative effects and for that reason, they recommend giving it 90 days to really see what you feel like. That would mean you need to place three different orders, or you can just order the subscription once and let it do the work for you. And if you want to cancel at any time they make it really easy to do that on the website too.

What Does it Feel Like to Take CBD?

Here’s the thing – CBD will not get you high. I repeat CBD will not get you high. It doesn’t have the same psychoactive effects as THC, those are just the facts. What I’ve experienced with Equilibria CBD is that it’s not so much that you feel something when you are taking it, it’s that you feel it when you aren’t. Let me explain.

After taking Equilibria for many months I find my stress and anxiety isn’t as high, I’m sleeping better through the night and decide to stop taking it. Then I notice things creeping back in. That’s when I take stock of what I’ve changed and decide to add it back to my routine. Then I find my stress and anxiety isn’t as high, I’m sleeping better through the night and decide to stop taking it again. I’ve done this cycle many times.

Maybe that means I should just take it literally every day like a vitamin so I don’t go through the different feelings, or maybe it’s OK to feel feelings (a nod to Glennon) and that’s what’s so great about being able to skip or pause the subscription whenever I’d like.

Would I Recommend Equilibria CBD?

Yes! I 100% would recommend a friend try Equilibria CBD, at least research and look into the science to decide if it’s something they might be interested in. Maybe it’s a placebo, maybe it’s not, but I wouldn’t be using it for over a year if I didn’t think it wasn’t helping.
