When I first saw the trailer for ‘The One’ it looked like some weird sci-fi tech conferency (not a word) show that I wouldn’t be able to get into. But I gave it a shot and OMG, I’m so happy I did.
Yes, there is a science component to it, but honestly, it’s not that far-fetched that it doesn’t feel sci-fi. And the best part is it’s a British thriller crime-show which has become a whole genre onto itself (‘Broadchurch’, ‘Bodyguard’ to name a few).
The premise is that through DNA testing you can be matched with your one true love. But isn’t there always something more to these unicorn stories? It has all the components of a great show…love, murder, cliff-hangers. I’m anxiously waiting for a season 2 to be announced. ‘The One’ is probably on the cusp of Obsessed, but it’s solidly entertaining.
